Privacy policy

Last updated: [date to be confirmed at launch]. This policy explains how we handle personal information. Please read it together with our Terms of service.

1. Who we are

Next Role is operated by K3-Team Pty Ltd [ABN to be inserted], an Australian company ("Next Role", "we", "us" or "our"). You can contact us at [email protected]. Next Role is a software tool that helps you organise your job search, tailor your own CV, and draft your own messages. In this policy "the service" means the Next Role website, application and browser extension.

2. Information we collect

We collect the information we reasonably need to provide, operate, secure, support, analyse and improve the service. By using the service you consent to our collecting and handling that information for those purposes. This includes:

  • Information you give us: your name, email address and password; the contents of your profile, CVs, work and education history, skills, and any other details you choose to enter; your job applications, notes, saved contacts, and the messages, cover letters and replies you draft or store; waitlist entries; and anything you send us through support or contact forms.
  • Information collected automatically: your device and browser type, IP address, approximate location derived from your IP address, log and usage data, the pages and features you use, and information stored through cookies and similar technologies.
  • Information from third parties: your payment and subscription status from our payment provider, and email delivery events (such as bounces) from our email providers.
  • Information through the browser extension: where you install and direct it, the extension reads content from pages you are viewing so it can capture job details and, where you turn the setting on, complete applications on your behalf. It reads a page only where you direct it and a supported site is matched.

Sensitive information. A CV, profile or application may contain sensitive information (for example about your health, disability, religion, or criminal record). Where you choose to provide it, you consent to us collecting, storing and handling it as part of the service.

3. How we use your information

We use your information for any purpose reasonably connected with the service, including to:

  • create and manage your account and provide the service;
  • tailor your CV, generate drafts, score matches and produce other output at your request;
  • process payments and manage subscriptions, trials and billing;
  • communicate with you, including service, security and account messages;
  • provide support and respond to your requests;
  • maintain security, prevent fraud and misuse, and enforce our terms;
  • measure, analyse and improve the service and develop new features;
  • comply with our legal obligations; and
  • any other purpose we disclose to you or that you consent to.

4. AI features

Some features process your information using a third-party AI provider (currently Anthropic) at your request. The AI reshapes information you have provided; it is designed not to invent facts, and you review and decide what to send or submit. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your personal information to train our own or third parties' general AI models. AI output can contain errors and is not professional, legal or career advice.

5. Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies that are strictly necessary to sign you in and keep the service secure, cookies that remember your preferences (such as your theme and cookie choices), and limited analytics. You can manage your choices on our Cookie settings page. Blocking essential cookies may stop parts of the service working.

6. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We disclose it to:

  • Service providers who help us run the service, under obligations of confidentiality. These currently include Anthropic (AI processing), Stripe (payments), Amazon Web Services and Resend (email delivery and related infrastructure), and Cloudflare (content delivery and security). Your profile, CVs and application data are stored in our own database on servers we operate at our hosting provider.
  • Authorities and others where we reasonably consider it necessary to comply with a law, court order or lawful request, to enforce our terms, or to protect the rights, safety or property of any person.
  • A successor in connection with a sale, merger, financing or other business transaction, in which case your information may be transferred as a business asset.
  • Anyone else with your consent.

7. Overseas disclosure

Some of our service providers store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States and other countries. By using the service you consent to these overseas disclosures, and you acknowledge that we may not be required to take the steps set out in Australian Privacy Principle 8.1 in relation to them, and that we are not accountable under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) for how an overseas recipient handles your information, to the extent the law allows.

8. Security and retention

We take reasonable steps to protect your information, including encryption of data in transit, encryption of stored CVs and uploaded files, and access controls. No system is completely secure, and to the extent the law allows you use the service at your own risk. We keep your information for as long as your account is active and for as long as we reasonably need it for the purposes above or to meet legal obligations, after which we delete or de-identify it. We will delete your personal information on request, subject to information we are required or entitled to keep.

9. Your rights

You may ask us to access or correct the personal information we hold about you by emailing [email protected]. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles. If you have a privacy concern, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

10. Children

The service is intended for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always the one published here, and your continued use of the service means you accept the updated policy.
